Charge Any Capacity AA/AAA NiMH/NiCd Battery
 The Lightning Pack 4000N has
two
independent charging banks, which charges 2 or 4 NiMH/NiCd
rechargeable batteries in either AA or AAA sizes at the
same time. (It's like having two rechargers in one.) This
configuration is superior for charging all batteries evenly
and equally. (Many "independent bank" rechargers are not
able to evenly charge NiMH batteries, resulting in
inconsistent, uneven, and under-powered performance.)
Protect Your Batteries From
OVERCHARGING DAMAGE
 You
need a charger designed to fully yet SAFELY charge NiMH and
NiCd cells. Most rechargers are fast but very harsh on
cells - damaging batteries with dangerous overheating both

onboard Microprocessor controls the entire charge

When used in a set, rechargeable batteries drain unevenly
when the battery closest to the device gets drained more
than the others.) This condition makes consistent
recharging difficult, as it is vital that
all
cells be charged to the same relative voltage.

cannot be corrected with normal recharging. Cells in this
condition are easily overcharged due to the greater drained
battery causing the lesser drained cells to receive too much
energy during recharging. The imbalance also leads to
inconsistent performance, as the user never knows how much energy

A little known
phenomenon with rechargeable NiMH cells is that they can become dangerously
over-depleted just by sitting in a drawer. If this
happens, and there is not enough voltage for a recharger to
recognize, your battery is dead for all
practical purposes. (Rechargeable batteries should always be
charged at least once or twice a year for their long-term
safety.)
The
Lightning Pack 4000N has a unique onboard "CPR"
feature that checks all cell voltages, and
delivers a special current designed to "bring
up" any cell having voltage too low to be charged. Designed to
revive
otherwise dead cells, this process can be repeated many

The
LP4000N is smaller, has no cords, has a cover, and
charges batteries much cooler, (than the Maha 401FS
and LaCrosse BC-900 chargers.) I can get almost 90%
capacity in under 3 hours hours in my 4000N.
With high
capacity NiMH batteries, I'll trade 5 - 10%
capacity for cooler charging and longer battery life.
(And If I
need the extra 5 - 10%, I'll leave them in the 4000N
overnight.) With two sets of charged 25000mAh AA's,
charging time is rarely a factor for me.
My dad
will be happy, he's going to inherit my Maha 401 now.
